Why travel with Costa Rica Destination?

Costa Rica Destination has its operational base in Alajuela which is close from the Juan Santamaria International Airport.

To experience the way of life in Costa Rica makes us knowledgeable of what we offer and promote. We know exactly what the most common travel concerns are and what are the most recommended and popular places for every type of traveler.

We regularly visit and inspect the destinations we offer in order to really know what we are offering. We take into account the quality and safety of our suppliers and the needs of our customers. The care and detail we take in preparing our packages make us a concerned and committed to providing a personalized service. We do this carefully studying what the customer needs and requests are, in order to meet the expectations of their dream vacation.

Our logistics support team is always prepared to help solve any unexpected issues that may arise during your dream vacation.

I like the offer that was sent to us, what is the next step?

Once you have approved our offer, we will be happy to start working on your itinerary, and simultaneously start the booking process. To book the offer we need the following information:

  1. Your full name and all traveling companions.
  2. Your arrival and departure information.
  3. Flight details of both the arrival and the departure times, the flight number and the name of the airline.
  4. Home of record address.

Once you submit this information, we will begin the process of booking the services you have chosen. Normally our staff will require 24-48 hours to confirm your request. When we have all reconfirmed services we would be sending your confirmed itinerary along with your paid invoice.

How far in advance should I book?

It is usually best to book several days in advance before making the trip, especially during the high season as there is less availability. This period is usually from December to mid-April. Christmas, New Year and Easter are also high season travel periods. 

During this time the hotels have certain restrictions and specific reservation policies, we recommend making reservations 6 months prior in advance to your vacation date.

How do I make payment?

Bookings including travel dates from Dec 20 to Jan 10 and for Easter week require full payment in order to be confirmed and are non-refundable. Other than these holiday periods, final prepayment is due 45 days prior to arrival. Bookings confirmed within 45 days of arrival require payment in full within 5 working days.

We have three payment methods:

Costaricadestination.com accepts; Visa and MasterCard.

A confirmation will be sent by email once full payment is verified. Original vouchers can only be mailed to the address to which your credit card bill is mailed or our tour guide will exchange your email confirmation at the airport for original vouchers. If you require original vouchers to be sent to you by courier, a charge of $12.00 will be added to your bill for this service.

Important: The Credit Card used must be of the person who is using the services since a photocopy of the card and a valid ID will be required upon client's arrival to its destination.

Notice: Once reservations have been confirmed there is a charge of US$25 to modify the reservations.

Is there a special discount for children?

Passengers under 3 years old are considered infants and are free of charge. Parents will assume their expenses and provide their meals.

Passengers over the age of 12 years will pay the normal adult fee.

Accommodations

Children who sleep with their parents in the same room will receive a special rate, however these rates and policies towards children vary.

Tour packages 

Children between the ages of 3-12 years old will receive 25% of discount. It is very important for you to let us know the children' age in order to adjust package prices.

Will I receive travel documents by mail?

Once you have booked your trip and all confirmed services, you will receive via email your confirmed itinerary. After your arrival in Costa Rica you will receive a folder with all the information and details needed for the trip. A staff member will be there at the airport waiting for you to meet, greet and provide you with all the information that you will need for your trip. 

In the folder you will find:

  • All daily information during your trip, transportation information, etcetera. 
  • Tickets for each of the services purchased.
  • Contacts and telephone numbers of all the service providers.
  • A Map of Costa Rica.
  • Description of routes.
  • Overview of Costa Rica and emergency telephone numbers.

What are your cancellation policies?

If you cancel your reservation, the rights of return or refund are limited. Cancellations must be received in writing at least 30 days prior to arrival, if so you would receive a refund of your deposit less a $ 25.00 per passenger for operating expenses.

To avoid charges on One Day Tours, written cancellations must be made at least 24 hours prior to the tour’s departure time.

Changes for cancelled tours that require lodging are subject to individual hotel cancellation policies.

Any changes made by the customer to the travel schedule will be your responsibility. No refunds will be made for services not used that were covered during the trip.

The following fees apply: (Supplier refers to hotels, car rental companies, tour operators, local Airlines, etc.)

30 days or more prior to arrival – $25 charge, plus any supplier penalties.
21 to 30 days prior to arrival – 25% charge, plus any supplier penalties.
14 to 21 days prior to arrival – 50% charge, plus any supplier penalties.
13 or less days prior to arrival date – 100% charge.

Once travel commences there will be no refunds made on unused portions, nor is the price or value exchangeable for alternative services.

Important Facts

Rates subject to change without notice

While Costaricadestination.com makes every effort to keep rates current, sometimes suppliers are slow to notify us of changes. Rates are subject to change until reservation is confirmed.

Documentation

U.S. citizens need to have a valid passport (visa is required for some countries). It is the responsibility of all those traveling to obtain information and proper documentation. Costaricadestination.com and its agents accept no responsibility for changes in documentation requirements nor for any departure or entry denials. Passengers denied boarding for lack of documentation will receive no refund. Full cancellation policies apply to cancellations due to incorrect documentation.

Can I reserve my airfare with you?

Costa Rica Destination is a receptive tour agency, which only offers in country tour packages. 

We recommend that you contact your local travel agencies. You can also check flight deals on the internet.

In case I need assistance during my trip, where can I call?

The folder that you receive at the airport, will have our phone numbers during office hours. They attend to calls in English and Spanish, we will be happy to assist you.
