General Information

Chayote Lodge is a new lodging concept where the unique combination of culture and nature meet to share with its guests’ one of the most valuable treasures of Costa Rica: Authentic lifestyle and culture.

Chayote Lodge is located only 50 minutes away from San Jose Airport in Llano Bonito de Naranjo. It boasts 12 spacious bungalows. They feature a private terrace with a breathtaking view of Poas, Barva, and Irazu Volcanos, as well as the Central Valley and the Nicoya Gulf in the Pacific Ocean seen on clear days. Its strategic location right in the middle of Costa Rica is a perfect gateway to discover different national parks, waterfalls, coffee fields, rural villages, local artisans, as well as enjoy the local lifestyle by visiting homes, gardens and city parks within the vicinity.

The architecture of Chayote Lodge has been carefully designed to incorporate the local elements of the coffee culture. The bungalows will resemble the Coffee "Recibidores" – Coffee Receiving Stations. These Recibidores are nestled along the terraced roads and hills. At the end of the day, local farmers will haul their coffee cherries to the Recibidor to be processed in larger mills. These represent an iconic symbol in Costa Rican coffee culture and are the inspiration to each guest's Recibidor.

Nestled along a terrace with an impressive view to the Central Valley, Poas, Barva, Irazú volcanos, coffee fields and pasture lands, each of the Recibidor boasts 535 sq feet of space. Each suite has been decorated by a local artisan's exclusive furniture design and inspired by coffee culture and rural lifestyle. Enjoy a suspended balcony over a private coffee garden surrounded by cloud forest, from where the view of the morning sunrise over the Irazu Volcano will let the natural light fill your suite and awake you into a world of peace and beauty.

Quelites Restaurant really does have a breathtaking view with a warm and inviting atmosphere.

A terrace café just outside the main dining room is the perfect setting for an ‘alfresco’ breakfast, lunch or afternoon coffee.

The coffee culture is the principal motivation for the design and decoration. The hand painted lamps in the welcome corridor represent the five stages of the coffee bean. Coffee sticks decorate part of the ceiling, and the “cajuelas” or metal measuring tools used daily in the coffee fields to ration the coffee picked by farmers are used in the bar to decorate and exhibit its liquor bottles.
